Michelle Aspelin

I work with small business owners and organizations who don’t have the time for Marketing-related tasks, nor the know-how.

I have found that small businesses and organizations are full of ideas but lack the time or knowledge to implement their ideas. In order to move your business forward, you need to work “on” your business, not just “in” it.

If you’ve been in business for a while, your biggest need may be more time. I can help you leverage your talents and skills by implementing systems to save you time, which frees you up to do more of what you love and what you’re good at, which supports why you started your business in the first place.

If you are a nonprofit organization, you are looking for technical expertise to help keep your organization on track to fulfill your mission. I can create simple a website as well as instructions for self-maintenance, which equips your team of volunteers to manage it independently moving forward. I can also set up a Membership and Event process to keep you organized, which further increases your Membership and Donations!

My Story

I am a huge advocate of my local community. In 2008 I wanted a single website to showcase the City of Victoria, its amenities AND the businesses and organizations in Victoria, so I decided to hire a web designer to build a custom WordPress website and I called it Think Victoria MN. After seeing how effective the site was at quickly rising to the top of the search engine results, I decided to immerse myself in the platform and learn all I could about what made it so effective (first page of Google). I used my new skills to create a WordPress website for my networking group. Then, in 2010, the newly formed Arts Consortium of Carver County reached out to me to build them a website. I got started immediately building them a WordPress website that I managed for them for 10 years! In 2010, I officially launched Mindshare Marketing & Implementation Services and have been making and improving WordPress (and Weebly) websites ever since.

My passion is to solve my client’s problems and do the work that needs to be done to make them successful. That’s why my company name not only references marketing but my implementation services, I get it done! I started this business because I understand what it is like to be an entrepreneur and wear all the hats. There comes a time when there aren’t enough hours in the day for a small business owner or nonprofit to do everything themselves, that’s where I come in.

I help my clients creatively share their message, product, or service with their audience. I am a Learner, Communicator and Activator (read about my Top Strengths) and I thrive when I can work on a variety of tasks from administrative and marketing focused to websites and blogs. Every day is different and presents new challenges. I love giving my clients more time so they can use their strengths and focus on growing their small business or nonprofit organization. The services I provide offer a sense of relief for my clients. They know I will complete the task or project on time, often offering suggestions for improvement along the way. I love what I do and always enjoy meeting new clients and learning how I can make their life easier.

“Michelle is timely in her work and often anticipates in advance what needs to be done. She makes excellent suggestions and always meets her deadlines, often completing her work in advance. She is articulate, generous with her time, and fun to work with on projects.” Susan Coultrap-McQuin, Arts Consortium of Carver County

Use Your Strengths

Here’s an excerpt from The Answer; Grow Any Business, Achieve Financial Freedom, and Live an Extraordinary Life by John Assaraf & Murray Smith

“Being a successful beautician is one thing. Being a successful beauty shop owner is another thing entirely! Going from the one to the other is like going from being a surgeon to owning a hospital. You need some very different skill sets to make that work. Identifying those traits and strengths you don’t have tells you where you need to bring other people into the equation.

Be clear on this: A weakness is not a negative; it’s just an indication of strengths you’ll need to look for in other people. Your strengths, passions, and unique abilities are your most precious asset, and the second-most precious asset you have will be your associations and working relationships with people who embody all those complementary strengths, passions, interests, and abilities you do not have.

Each one of us has to do it alone, but we can’t do it by ourselves. We need one another. Being the Lone Ranger is a tough way to go, and even he had Tonto to lean on. One of the secrets to achieving your goals is knowing how to ask for help from people who have those skills you don’t possess.  In return, you offer them the skills you have, which will often turn out to be just what they need to achieve their goals. Complimentary skills serve everyone involved.”
